A Regional Municipality of Sudbury was the Regional Municipality in Ontario, Canada, which existed from 1973 to 2000.
A regional municipality expanded a boundaries of a city of Sudbury, & incorporated the many towns and villages outside of the city into six big towns. A towns were referred to as Valley East, Nickel Centre, Rayside-Balfour, Walden, Onaping Falls and Capreol. Due to people incubation, Vale East was reincorporated as a city inside 1997.
Every thave & city in the regional municipality got its have city manager & council, & provided several of its own municipal services. the regional municipality experienced a regional council & chairwoman of its have, & provided certain services which were deemed to exist as of area-wide interest (eg. major arterial roads, law services, etc.) Until 1997, a regional chairperson was elective to a position from either inside the regional council; in this month, the position became usually elected by everthing elector in the regional municipality.
In January 1, 2001, a Regional Municipality of Sudbury was dissolved inside the provincially-mandated around of municipal restructuring, & completely septet local municipalities were amalgamated into the only-tier city of Greater Sudbury.
the single notable fact was that this was a single regional municipality around Ontario does'nt to originate from either a former county government; it was created out of a Sudbury District, which still surrounds a todays city.
